This is a very short
step-by-step document on how to create a catch-all account on a virtual
site on a Cobalt RaQ.
What is a catch-all
mail account? It is a defined account that is used to accept all mail
addressed to unknown mail recipients for a certain domain. Instead of
the email bouncing back to the sender for a user that does not exist,
it gets re-routed straight into another mailbox.
For this HOW-TO, I'm
using a RaQ4.
Step
1
Ok, first, lets get some initial
information straight.......
The example domain is linux.domain.com
- and the settings are as follows:

and the DNS settings look like
this:

If the above DNS settings confuse
you, take a look at the DNS HOW-TO.
This means all mail sent to
user@linux.domain.com is going to the virtual site called linux.domain.com. Therefore,
I set up my users there.
The user list only has one
user.

Step
2
I want to set up a catch-all
for the linux.domain.com site and have User One collecting the mails.
The syntax is @name
IMPORTANT
The name of my site is linux.domain.com
The common pitfall is that
everyone just says to type in @domain.name OR @www.domain.name - which
works if the site has the same name.
The correct way is to specify
the virtual site name for the catch-all.

And that's it!
